Builders Club creates a space where ambitious people come together and build things.

We connect students and the wider community who want to make something real, meet people who think the same way and get out of their comfort zone.

We want people to say that and mean it as a turning point.

We begin at the University of Birmingham, extend across disciplines and universities, and grow into the city’s wider community and industry.

The principles

A compass,
not a rulebook.

Every event involves people making something. Talks, mentoring and socialising are in service of that, not a replacement for it.

The host sets the tone. A room with imperfect logistics and real momentum beats a polished event that feels flat.

Anyone can join, regardless of skill, degree or university. Ambition stays uncompromisingly high.

Start on time. End on time. Remove filler. Every hour someone gives us should feel well spent.

Promises to attendees, partners and each other are kept. Credibility is the infrastructure everything else rests on.

Ask what people thought. Listen. Change the format. Then tell the community what changed and why.

A smaller room that people cannot stop talking about is worth more than a crowd that leaves indifferent.

If you see the problem, move. If you have the idea, pitch it. A flat structure only works when everyone leads.
