Universities are full of ideas that stay ideas. Builders Club exists to close the gap between "I've always wanted to make…" and a prototype you can put in someone's hands.
Run by the people in the room.
Builders Club is self-organising. Builds happen because a member wanted them to happen and put their hand up — not because a committee calendar said so.
That keeps the club pointed at one thing: making stuff. If you want to propose a build, run a session or drag a project out of your notes app and into the world, the answer is almost always "yes — when?"
All disciplines. And beyond.
The core of the club is University of Birmingham students — but a good build team is never five identical people. Engineers, designers, business students, medics, artists: prototypes need all of it.
You don't have to be a student, either. Builders from the wider Birmingham community join sprints as teammates, mentors and — occasionally — the toughest judges in the room.
Build. Show. Repeat.
Every build ends in front of the room. Demoing isn't a bolt-on — standing up, showing the thing running and taking questions is half the skill we're here to practise.
Between sprints, socials keep the room warm: pizza, project gossip, and finding the teammates for your next build.
